787 FXUS62 KKEY 160231 AFDKEY Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Key West FL 1031 PM EDT Fri Mar 15 2024 ...New DISCUSSION, MARINE, AVIATION... .DISCUSSION... Issued at 1031 PM EDT Fri Mar 15 2024 Higher humidity is definitely more noticeable this evening, with dew points generally in the lower 70s across the island chain. Winds have decreased over the past few hours, with winds of 7 to 13 knots being recorded along the Reef. Surface analysis highlights the ridge that has been dominating our sensible weather is retreating further out into the North Atlantic as a cold front lumbers across the Southeast. Subtle height falls were sampled at all significant levels across the region as this high looses its grip. Temperatures along the island chain have remained steadily in the upper 70s, which is a few degrees above normal for this time of year. KBYX is echo free and the most cloud cover is upper- level cirrus moving in from the west. For tonight, temperatures will remain in the mid to upper 70s, and dew points will stay steady near 70 degrees, so a muggier mid-March night is on tap for the Florida Keys. Once again, the stable atmospheric environment will nix any shower development, so near nil rain chances remain in the forecast. Aside from lowering winds in the coastal waters, no changes were necessary to the current forecast. && .MARINE... Issued at 1031 PM EDT Fri Mar 15 2024 There are no watches, warnings, or advisories in effect for the Florida Keys coastal waters. From synopsis, high pressure across Florida will retreat eastward into the Atlantic resulting in diminished breezes over the next few days. A cold front is expected to push through Keys waters early next week. Breezes will freshen from the north Monday night and Tuesday morning in the wake of the frontal passage. && .AVIATION...
