722 FNUS55 KPUB 030316 FWFPUB Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado National Weather Service Pueblo Co 816 PM MST Sat Mar 2 2024 ...Red Flag Warning is in effect for much of the plains from 10 AM to 7 PM MST Sunday... .Discussion... A Pacific storm system will bring strong west to southwest winds to the district, producing critical fire weather conditions to most of the plains on Sunday. There is concern for locally extreme fire weather conditions tomorrow along the southern I-25 corridor region as a mountain wave produces wind gusts to 75-85 mph. Snow will increase along the mountains, mostly the Continental Divide, tonight through Sunday night, with 5 to 14 inches of new snow possible for the highest peaks combined with wind gusts up to 60 mph. Unsettled conditions will persist across the area through much of the upcoming work week, with additional chances for mountain snow and slightly cooler temperatures. Excellent ventilation rates are forecast for all of the district Sunday due to the extremely strong winds. For Monday, plan on an early start to the inversion lifting, between 0800 and 0900, with smoke dispersion improving to Good for all areas, and Very Good for the mountains, between 1100 and 1800. --- thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds --- COZ220-031130- Upper Arkansas River Valley Including Lake County and Chaffee County- 816 PM MST Sat Mar 2 2024 .REST OF TONIGHT...
