The following information is based on recent satellite imagery/data, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. ...SIGNIFICANT/SPECIAL FEATURES... OTHER SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENTS... NEAR EQUATORIAL TROUGH... The near-equatorial trough curves from EQ1302 through a disturbance centered near 3N150E to end at EQ152E. Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms are over a large area from just southwest of Chuuk Lagoon across southeast Palau and southeast Yap State. TRADE-WIND TROUGHS... A weak trade-wind trough just southeast of Majuro runs from 6N173E to EQ175 and is causing only spotty showers. OTHER SYSTEMS... A shear line cuts from 25N150E to 16N130E. Low to mid-level clouds and patchy showers are found along and north of this line to beyond 25N. A moist upper-level flow from the south and southeast is causing some high level cloudiness over the Mariana Islands between 10N and 20N from 140E to 150E. ...DISCUSSION... The near-equatorial trough along with a pattern of upper-level divergence will continue to cause patchy showers over Western Micronesia. Models indicate the disturbance near 3N150E will drift very slowly toward the west-northwest. The trade-wind trough near Majuro is nearly stationary but some some showers will spread west toward Kosrae. The shear line has slowed a bit but is expected to drift toward the Marianas during the coming days and could yet intensify further later in the week. $$ Simpson
