...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 830 AM EST THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive 
  rainfall continues.

* WHERE...A portion of southern Connecticut, including the following 
  counties, Fairfield, Middlesex, New Haven and New London.

* WHEN...Until 830 AM EST.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying 
  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams 
  continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall, 
  including the Quinnipiac River above Wallingford.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 615 AM EST, Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
    shortly in the warned area from a combination of runoff and
    continued light to moderate rain. Between 3 and 5 inches of
    rain have fallen over the last 18 hours.
  - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in
    the warned area.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Jewett City, New Haven, Waterbury, Meriden, Milford,
    Middletown, Wallingford, Norwich, Shelton, Naugatuck, New
    London, Guilford, Wolcott, Colchester, Clinton, East Hampton,
    Groton, Old Saybrook, Durham and Salem.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law 
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National 
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
