(This evening through next Sunday) Issued at 138 PM CDT Mon Oct 9 2023 Upper-level water vapor imagery shows an upper level low centered over Quebec with a broad upper trough axis digging south and encompassing the east CONUS. Wind speeds around 10kts with gusting winds up to 15kts will persist through the MidSouth this evening. A weak cold front in association with a shortwave trough will come through tonight and bring in slightly cooler temperatures for the northern half of the forecast area. Lows for tonight are expected to start in the upper 40s. Temperatures will continue to increase throughout the week as an upper level ridge builds within the region. Highs are anticipated to warm into the upper 80s by midweek. A warm front will lift through the region starting Tuesday and bring in some moisture throughout. However, rain showers in association with the front stay mostly to the north of the forecast area. As the aforementioned front lifts, another warm front will lift through the Gulf of Mexico and introduce some rain showers in the southeast CONUS. Model guidance shows showers ahead of the front remaining south of the forecast area. Pops were still added into north MS in order to show slight chances of rain entering the forecast area. On Friday, another cold front is expected to move across the region and bring in the greatest chance for rain showers area wide.
