731 FXUS63 KOAX 120841 AFDOAX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Omaha/Valley NE 341 AM CDT Tue Sep 12 2023 ...Updated Forecast Discussion... .DISCUSSION... Issued at 307 AM CDT Tue Sep 12 2023 Key Messages: - Below average temperatures and dry conditions are expected through Thursday - A weak cold front will bring chances for rain to the region from Thursday evening through early Saturday morning. Upper level ridging over the northern Plains will keep precipitation chances out of the region through Thursday afternoon. Temperatures will continue to be below average with highs in the 70s and lows in the upper 40s and low 50s. Humidity will also remain low across the region with dew points in the 40s. Thursday evening, a weak cold front will approach the region from the northwest. This will bring chances for rain showers across northeast Nebraska for Thursday night (20-30%), and for the entire region Friday afternoon/night (20-40%). Recent model trends have begun to depict faster frontal motion compared to previous runs, so rain chances in southwest Iowa and southeast Nebraska for Saturday morning appear to be diminishing at this time (<20%). Saturday through the end of the forecast period, seasonable temperatures (highs around 80) and dry conditions will prevail across the region as another high pressure system builds into the northern Plains. && .AVIATION...(For the 06Z TAFS through 06Z Tuesday night) Issued at 1128 PM CDT Mon Sep 11 2023 VFR conditions expected at the TAF sites through the period. Guidance continues to keep fog development south of the TAF sites, but some could sneak into far southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa. Otherwise, expect clear skies and light and somewhat variable winds overnight. Expect FEW to SCT clouds around 7000 to 9000 ft by mid day Tuesday with winds remaining light and settling at southeasterly to southwesterly. && .OAX WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... NE...None.
