213 FXUS66 KHNX 160017 AFDHNX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Hanford CA 517 PM PDT Sat Oct 15 2022 .UPDATE... Updated for Air Quality. && .SYNOPSIS... Above normal temperatures continue for one more day across the region before a cooldown to near normal happens tomorrow and Monday. A slight rebound in afternoon highs will be possible by the middle of a next week followed by another retreat in max T's by next weekend. && .DISCUSSION... Current satellite imagery reveals an upper low centered over the Baja coast that is advecting some moisture from the southeast into the desert areas of southern California. There is a slight chance a shower or two could clip the far southeastern portion of Kern County this afternoon, but they would be short-lived. By tomorrow afternoon highs are expected to drop several degrees as an upper level system approaching the Pacific Northwest introduces onshore flow to the region. This may lead to periods of breezy conditions across the west side hills and the valley over the next 24-48 hours. NBM guidance is depicting highs to struggle to get much over 80 degrees Sunday and Monday as a result. Highs are forecast rebound a few degrees on through the middle of the week as another Rex block pattern forms over the Western CONUS, with a ridge centered over Idaho with the upper low meandering off the CA coast. This may hold highs steady 5 degrees above normal through Friday. Ensemble guidance is showing a chance of another system approaching Central California by Saturday, which would give us dry and cool northwest flow aloft. This would also allow for highs next weekend to retreat back to near normal levels. && .AVIATION... VFR conditions will prevail across Central California for at least the next 24 hours. && .AIR QUALITY ISSUES... ISSUED: 10/15/2022 13:48 EXPIRES: 10/16/2022 23:59 On Sunday October 16 2022...
