Quiet weather conditions are expected over much of North Central and Southwest MT for the next several days. Afternoon temperatures will warm back above normal this weekend, with comfortable overnight low temperatures. The next chance for precipitation arrives Monday night into Tuesday. && .DISCUSSION... Today through Monday...Rather quiet weather conditions are expected across much of North Central and Southwest MT for the next several days. The main weather impact from today and into Saturday will be some patchy morning fog. With humidity near 100 percent in many areas this morning, patchy fog is likely. However, since it has been a few days since we had rainfall, the fog should not be quite as widespread or dense as it has been. Otherwise, a gradual warming trend is expected for afternoon temperatures, with Monday looking to be the warmest day. Light winds are expected over the weekend, but winds will increase on Monday, especially over North Central MT. However, wind speeds are expected to remain below warning criteria. Monday night through Tuesday...A Canadian cold front is expected to move southward through the CWA from Monday night into Tuesday. At this time precipitation amounts mostly look to be on the light side, with around 0.30 inches over the Rocky Mountain Front and around 0.10 inches out over the Plains and in the valleys. This will be a quick moving system, with most of the precipitation exiting the area by Tuesday night. Afternoon temperatures will be about 15 to 20 degrees cooler on Tuesday. Snow levels start out around 8000 feet on Monday night, and gradually lower to around 6000 feet on Tuesday. Overall light snow accumulations look to be mostly at ridge tops. Wednesday through Friday...An upper level ridge will build over the Pacific Northwest and Western MT. The axis of the ridge should be just close enough that our CWA should remain mostly dry in the light northerly flow aloft. As the ridge intensifies and slowly shifts eastward, afternoon temperatures will slowly rebound a few degrees by late next week.
