752 FXUS63 KEAX 101935 AFDEAX AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION National Weather Service Kansas City/Pleasant Hill MO 235 PM CDT Sat Sep 10 2022 .Discussion... Issued at 200 PM CDT SAT SEP 10 2022 Overview: Showers and a few thunderstorms will continue to push into the area this evening as a cold front moves through. Rain amounts of generally less than an inch are expected. Much cooler temperatures expected today and Sunday, but they will quickly rebound with mid to upper 80s expected for next week. Today: Today an upper low and surface cold front have pushed toward northern MO. This pattern has allowed for the development of low clouds ahead and along the cold front. Showers and a few rumbles of thunder have lagged behind the initial cold front which is located south of the KC Metro as of the early afternoon. While there have been a few rumbles of thunder today, generally expect just rain showers this evening with the lack of any meaningful instability. As the front continues to slide southeast on and off shower activity will continue to be possible through the evening into the overnight, coming to an end before sunrise on Sunday. Rainfall amounts will generally be around 1/2 to 1 inch across the area. As far as temperatures go, expect big differences from north to south. With the front bisecting the area today, northwestern MO looks to remain in the 60s today while the KC Metro and points south will see the upper 70s to low 80s. With the return of moisture to the area, some fog development can't be ruled out, mainly across far northwest MO where clouds are able to clear out overnight and winds behind the front diminish. Sunday: With rain chances coming to an end, expect a fairly pleasant fall day on Sunday. The early morning may see some lingering clouds, but generally expect the return of sunshine across the area by late morning. While temperatures will remain fall-like in the mid 70s for most, the abundant sunshine may allow for a quick rebound and some seeing temperatures near 80. The workweek: The upper low will gradually drift east to start the week and ridging will return in its place. Temperatures on Monday are expected to be around 80 again, but our above normal temperatures quickly return for the mid-week. Mid 80s to near 90 can be expected each day will limited rain chances through the end of the week. && .Aviation...(For the 18Z TAFS through 18Z Sunday Afternoon) Issued at 1214 PM CDT SAT SEP 10 2022 Expect ceilings to remain MVFR this afternoon with rain moving in through the early afternoon.
