657 FXUS63 KEAX 072345 AFDEAX AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION National Weather Service Kansas City/Pleasant Hill MO 645 PM CDT Wed Sep 7 2022 .Discussion... Issued at 233 PM CDT WED SEP 7 2022 High pressure continues to dominate much of the CONUS west of the Mississippi. This large anticyclone holds Gulf moisture and precipitation well south of the region. Even though the flow of Gulf air is stifled, dew point temperatures remain in the low to mid 60s bringing just enough humidity to remind us that autumn has not fully arrived. High pressure has also cleared out much of the sky only leaving some dirunally driven cumulus. High temperatures continue to incrementally increase reaching into the low 90s toward the end of the work week. This clearing also enables night time temperatures to dip into the 60s presenting another opportunity for fog Thursday morning. Most areas may see relatively mild visibility hindrances similar to what was seen this morning with denser pockets possible near rivers, lakes, and low lying areas. Fog will once again dissipate after sunrise Thursday. Contrary to the low level pattern, the upper levels are fairly interesting with an upper level cutoff low descending toward the Gulf of Mexico. This upper level cyclone is expected to gradually deepen eventually influencing lower level flow advecting moisture northward across much of the eastern CONUS. Over the weekend, a longwave trough moving across the northern CONUS lifts this stationary low out of the Gulf. Accompanying this northern trough is a cold front which moves through our region bringing the opportunity for some showers and thunderstorms overnight Saturday and Sunday. On the backside of the front, temperatures look to dip back into the 70s to start out next week; however, it is a little too early to say that fall weather is upon us as temperatures once again increase in the latter half of next week. && .Aviation...(For the 00Z TAFS through 00Z Thursday Evening) Issued at 644 PM CDT WED SEP 7 2022 VFR conditions are expected to prevail through the period.
