Damage was surveyed in northeastern Smith County. .Tornado #1...Winona in Smith County, TX Rating: EF1 Estimated Peak Wind: 95 mph Path Length /statute/: 3.7751 miles Path Width /maximum/: 200.0 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 08/22/2022 Start Time: 10:26 AM CDT Start Location: 1 WSW Winona / Smith County / TX Start Lat/Lon: 32.4873 / -95.1918 End Date: 08/22/2022 End Time: 10:30 AM CDT End Location: 3 NNE Winona / Smith County / TX End Lat/Lon: 32.5341 / -95.1582 Survey Summary: The tornado first touched down just south of CR-345 on the west side of Winona. There, it lofted a small metal outbuilding, throwing it across the road. It also uprooted a tree. It continued on to clip the Winona Independent School District campus. There, it lifted a training sled as it crossed the football field and damaged the roof on a dugout. The tornado just missed hitting school buildings by only around 200 yards. It continued on to hit another small metal outbuilding, rolling it and destroying it before it crossed FM-16. After crossing FM-16, it paralleled Hussey Circle, downing several more large branches and snapping a large tree which fell into a home. The tornado went on to uproot hardwood trees as it crossed CR-155. Its path was its widest at this point before it shortly lifted thereafter.
