.DISCUSSION...

Tonight through Tuesday night...

Mid level heights build as high pressure builds northward into 
the northern Rockies. A backdoor cold front will slide in Tuesday 
morning and this should translate in slightly cooler highs 
compared to today. Temperatures will rise back into the mid to 
upper 90s on Wednesday as the ridge axis slides into the 
southeast. At least initially, upper ridge placement will keep the
majority of the clouds north on Tuesday, but monsoon moisture 
will will be able to slip under the ridge into the western zones 
Tuesday night. TWH

Wednesday through Monday...

High amplitude upper ridge will build over the forecast area and 
then shift east through Thursday. Monsoonal moisture will bring a 
slight chance of showers and thunderstorms to the western 
mountains Wednesday afternoon and evening. A better chance of 
precipitation will move into the western half of the forecast area
for Thursday afternoon and evening as an upper level disturbance 
moves around the ridge. 

Friday through Monday will feature a southwest flow aloft on the 
periphery of the upper ridge. Pieces of upper level energy will 
move through the flow and combine with monsoonal moisture to bring
scattered showers and thunderstorms each afternoon and evening. 
Precipital waters will be high so heavy rainfall will be possible 
with the thunderstorms. Temperatures will be above normal through 
the period. Readings will be in the middle to upper 90s for most 
areas Wednesday and Thursday. Slightly cooler temperatures can be 
expected for the weekend with lower 90s common. Arthur/Hooley
