398 FXUS64 KJAN 142309 AFDJAN Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Jackson MS 609 PM CDT Thu Jul 14 2022 .UPDATE... Updated for 00Z aviation discussion && .AVIATION... 00Z TAF discussion: VFR conditions will prevail through the evening. Isolated to scattered storms are continuing this evening, but trends don't look like they will affect area airports. These should diminish through the evening, resulting in quiet conditions overnight. VFR conditions should prevail though some locations may see MVFR flight categories for reduced vis/low stratus. Any issues will improve through the morning tomorrow and VFR conditions are expected again on Friday, with some potential for storms during the afternoon. /28/ && .DISCUSSION... Cloud cover across central Mississippi has limited storm development this morning into the early afternoon due to the lack of heating. As we get into the late afternoon to early evening hours, the coverage for storms should increase mainly south of I-20 corridor. This is due to the previously stated high PWs approaching 2" and mid 70s dewpoints. Late this evening as daytime heating is lost, rain and storm chances will taper off. Friday Morning/Day: There will be some patchy fog tomorrow across the area tomorrow morning that will linger shortly after sunrise. A weak front will continue to bring drier air in the upper levels as it sinks southward, limiting daytime convective coverage across much of the area. Much of the convection will be limited to south Mississippi. As a ridge builds in behind the front we will begin a trend toward hot and somewhat humid conditions./NP/DL/ Friday Night through next Wednesday...High pressure aloft will remain wedged into the region from the west, while broad troughing remains present over much of the eastern half of the Southeast United States. This will result in continued northerly flow aloft across the region through the upcoming weekend. As we move into the first half of next week, the trough to our east will retrograde a bit over the Deep South, while becoming absorbed by another trough that'll drop southeast into the region Monday through Wednesday. At the surface, typical summer-like conditions will exist across the CWA. Highs each day will generally warm into the 90s, with lows each night falling into the 70s. Convection will be possible each day during the afternoon, before dissipating during the early evening hours as daytime heating wanes. Rain chances through the long term period currently look at their best over the forecast area next Monday. This will be due to the aforementioned presence of troughing increasing over the region. In addition to this, humidity levels will creep up resulting in the increasing potential for dangerous heat stress conditions across portions of the area Tuesday into Wednesday. /19/ && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
