While the lower elevations, especially the larger cities of Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg should stay mainly rain, much of the rest of the state will have measurable snowfall. Winter storm warnings remain in effect across portions of northeast Pennsylvania, while winter weather advisories are in effect for much of central and north central Pennsylvania overnight. Some of the snow will be on the heavy side overnight, especially across the northeast section of the Keystone state, and across the higher elevations of western Pennsylvania. Snowfall rates could reach 1 or 2 inches per hour at times. Lows tonight will be mainly in the lower to mid 30s. Late tonight, the steady snow and rain will lift out of the state. Snow showers will linger into Tuesday and Tuesday evening across the northwest and western mountains. Additional light snow accumulations are expected for the higher elevations on Tuesday. In addition, gusty northwest winds will prevail throughout the day. Highs on Tuesday will hold in the mid 30s in the Allegheny mountains and Laurel Highlands to the upper 40s across the southeast. Much warmer air will move into the Keystone state for the second part of the week. $$ Martin
