Winds will be between 5-10kts out of the northwest in the wake of a cold front. JEH/88 && .PREV DISCUSSION... /issued 1008 PM CDT Fri Mar 18 2022/ NEAR TERM /Now Through Sunday/...The upper low that brought today's weather has wobbled northeast to over the Midwest by 00z/7pm, with another vort lobe swinging around the southwest side of the low at this time. A cold front associated with this upper system has pushed to the Mississippi/Alabama state line, and is expected to move just southeast of the marine portion of the forecast area by 12z/7am Saturday morning, then stall. As the second vort lobe swings around the upper low later tonight through Saturday, isentropic upglide on the northwest side of the stalled front sets up, bringing showers and to areas closer to the front, thunderstorms. The majority of the precipitation is expected to remain south of the coast, though. The cold front will move south Saturday night into Sunday as the vort lobe swings north on the leading edge of the upper low, taking any residual precipitation with. Cooler air will overspread the forecast area behind the front, dropping temperatures tonight into the upper 40s to near 50 northwest of I-65, low to mid 50s southeast (with this area seeing less cold air influx). Temperatures Saturday will top out in the upper 60s to around 70 as the cool northerly flow continues. Saturday night will see temperatures dropping into the low to mid 40s across the majority of the forecast area. Sunday will see temperatures rebound as surface high pressure moves over the Southeast, with low to mid 70s expected. With the surface flow shifting to offshore tonight, the High Risk of rip currents will drop as the onshore swell eases. Am also expected the High Surf to ease tonight with the relaxing of the onshore flow. /16 && .MOB WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... AL...High Rip Current Risk through this evening for ALZ265-266.
