183 FXUS64 KHUN 021447 AFDHUN Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Huntsville AL 847 AM CST Wed Mar 2 2022 .NEAR TERM...(Rest of Today) Issued at 847 AM CST Wed Mar 2 2022 Another beautiful day is forecast across the Tennessee Valley today. The atmosphere remains dry with surface high pressure centered near Houston, TX. PW values are currently down around 0.3-0.4 inches. Therefore, expect skies will remain sunny with high temperatures climbing into the low to mid 70s this afternoon. .SHORT TERM...(Tonight through Friday) Issued at 243 CST Wed Mar 2 2022 Given the dry airmass in place, temperatures will drop quickly after sunset. The overnight lows will be in the low to mid 40s. Rinse and repeat forecast for Thursday and Friday as afternoon highs top out in the mid 70s. Biggest change towards the end of the work week will be an increase in moisture as the aformentioned high pressure center shifts a bit to the east bringing in return flow off the Gulf of Mexico. Only impact to the sensible weather will be an increase in clouds on Friday. Warmer overnight temperatures are also expected Friday as lows only drop down into the lower 50s. Otherwise, fantastic weather to finish out the first week of March. .LONG TERM...(Saturday through Tuesday) Issued at 243 AM CST Wed Mar 2 2022 An unsettled weather pattern is expected for the new week. A backdoor/wedge type front that was pushed to the S-SW by cold high pressure heading across the Great Lakes and New England region, should return to the NE as a warm front on Saturday. Higher terrain to our north and east generally lessens a colder impact those fronts can have - especially to areas our east. A southerly flow should return, helping high temperatures warm into the mid 70s to close out the week. In the meanwhile, clouds and moisture preceding a system forecast to impact much of the western and central CONUS will start heading towards the east. The main surface low with this system should reach the Great Lakes region on Sun/Mon. A gradual increase in moisture and instability will return shower chances to the forecast area starting late Sat night continuing into Sun. Have maintained a scaling of higher rain chances for our western areas, and drier to the east. Despite clouds and somewhat higher rain chances, Sunday should feature rather warm temperatures for this time of year, with highs rising into the mid and upper 70s. A cold front trailing south of the main surface low should make a move towards the area Monday night. The approach of this front will provide enough lift to add a mention of thunder to the forecast from late Sun night into Mon evening. Some of these storms could become strong given higher shear and instability present before the front passes Mon night. With higher rain chances, highs on Mon will warm to around 70. Post system showers per the blends will continue on Tuesday, so kept rain chances going. Colder air moving in after the front passes will be apparent, with highs on Tue only warming into the mid and upper 50s && .AVIATION...(For the 12Z TAFS through 12Z Thursday morning) Issued at 509 AM CST Wed Mar 2 2022 VFR conditions with light and variable winds are expected during the TAF period. && .HUN WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
