Light snow accompanied the front and created slick roadways in parts of the state. Now, clouds linger behind the front and there may be flurries or even brief periods of light snow beneath these clouds. Temperatures late this morning ranged from the teens over northern Iowa to the low 30s over southern Iowa. Bitter cold air will continue to funnel into the state the rest of today and tonight as clouds clear. Brisk winds will decrease into tonight, but remain elevated and help to create wind chill values of 15 to 30 below zero in many parts of the state by Tuesday morning. The frigid conditions will continue Tuesday into Wednesday morning. The coldest conditions will be over north central and northeastern Iowa with highs several degrees either side of zero and lows Wednesday morning around 20 below zero. Wind chills of 30 below zero or lower will be common over this part of the state as well Wednesday morning. Temperatures will moderate later Wednesday into Thursday with another cold front bringing back chillier air to end the week. While this front may bring spotty light precipitation, the rest of the week is forecast to be dry. $$ Ansorge
