Muscha PREV DISCUSSION... /Issued 211 PM CST Tue Jan 11 2022/ SHORT TERM...through Tonight... Dry conditions will continue through tonight. As H500 winds shift to northwesterly flow, some mid to high clouds will move SE across the Panhandles associated a weak perturbation in the mid levels. Otherwise, going into tonight, low temperatures will remain near average for near mid January with values ranging in the 20s. Winds of 5-15 mph will start from the southwest before veering to northwesterly later tonight. Meccariello LONG TERM...Wednesday through Monday Night... The dry pattern continues for the FA. Wednesday through Thursday look to be pleasant and warm for this time of year. Winds are progged to be light for Panhandle standards. While both days will see temperatures well above normal, Thursday will have the warmest temperatures in the mid to upper 60s. By Friday the next upper level trough will be digging south into the central Plains. A surface low will develop over far northeastern NM and move southeast across the Texas Panhandle before a cold front moves through early in the day on Friday. Friday looks to be in the 50s as the cold air lags behind. However, Friday will be breezy with winds out of the north 25 to 30 mph with gust up to 40. The stronger winds will be in the western combined Panhandles where the higher height rises will be coming in from SE CO. H85 temperatures do not fall below zero until closer to midnight Saturday morning through midnight Sunday. H85 temperatures fall to around -2 to -5 C in the southern Texas Panhandle while the northeastern combined Panhandles see -7 to -9 C. Sunday onward, temperatures stay near average for the daytime and nighttime, with 20s overnight and 50s during the day. Winds look to be light to only slightly breezy for the FA during this time.
