Predawn temperatures were in the single digits and teens with north winds of 10 to 25 mph. A upper level system will race eastward across the central plains today with areas of snow quickly moving into Missouri. Meanwhile in the wake of this system will be arctic air and subzero wind chills. Several wind chill advisories and winter weather advisories will be in effect through the morning hours. Daytime highs will range from the single digits in northern Nebraska, to the mid 20s in central Oklahoma. It will be cold and dry across the Heartland for tonight, as surface high pressure builds over the area. Overnight lows will be in the single digits across the entire region with teens expected over central Oklahoma. $$
