796 FXUS65 KVEF 290855 AFDVEF Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Las Vegas NV 1255 AM PST Mon Nov 29 2021 .SYNOPSIS...Dry conditions with afternoon temperatures flirting with record highs will continue through week ahead. A hint at a pattern shift is suggested beyond next weekend which may bring a return of cooler and breezier weather. && .DISCUSSION...through Monday. 500mb ridge axis remains overhead today and will move little through the week, resulting in a continuation of mild and dry weather through at least Saturday. Given 500mb heights of 580dm+, temperatures will be quite warm by late november/early december standards, augmented somewhat by the low sun angle and limited low level mixing. Nonetheless, afternoon highs will remain 10-15 degrees above normal, and within striking range of daily record highs. By late in the week, heights begin to decline slightly which may offer a degree or two of cooling by Friday and Saturday, but overall very mild and dry conditions will continue. Beyond Saturday, extended range guidance continues to hint at a pattern shift towards cooler and more unsettled conditions at some point next week. This is in response to the Great Basin ridge shifting offshore of the West Coast, and allowing an inside slider type weather system to drop inland from the Pacific Northwest. Too early to be confident on this scenario or it's impacts, but a trend towards more seasonable temperatures by early next week looks fairly likely. && .AVIATION...For McCarran...No operationally significant impacts expected.
