PREV DISCUSSION... /Issued 500 AM EST Sun Nov 7 2021/ SHORT TERM /Today through Monday/... The coastal low is on its way out to sea today, and high pressure will prevail through the forecast period. Clear skies across the western half of the area this morning will overtake the entire area through the day, and temperatures will warm near normal this afternoon under sunny skies. Light winds and clear skies will bring another chilly night, though temperatures will moderate a few degrees as compared to this morning. Thus, while patchy frost can be expected, particularly in the northeast Georgia mountain counties, will hold off on any frost/freeze headlines at this point. Surface high pressure remains in place and upper ridging will build eastward on Monday leading to continued sunny skies and temperatures warming above normal to near or just above 70 degrees areawide. RW LONG TERM /Monday Night through Saturday/... Beginning of fcst period starts with warmer than normal highs Tues/Wed with continued upper ridging and dry airmass in place, then focus shifts to an approaching front and moisture axis progged to influence the area late Thursday into Friday along the eastern upper wave energy of a broad amplified trough centered in the central CONUS to Great Lakes. Guidance has some timing differences with this feature and overall it is quite elongated and starved of instability, so have covered with some increasing chance pops for showers Thursday, then likely in the north and west Thursday night, with high end chance Friday. Behind the front, the upper trough continues to dig farther south and there is some more discrepancy on the intensity of wave energy near the main axis along with the amount of moisture present that could flirt with parts of north GA Saturday night into Sunday. Thermal profiles could be rather cold as well so will need to monitor any light rain/snow potential in future updates, but is very far out at this point. Baker RW AVIATION... 12Z Update... VFR conditions will prevail with clear skies through the period. Winds will remain NW today at 4-8 kts before lessening to largely 4 kts or less by early Monday morning. //ATL Confidence...12Z Update... High confidence. RW && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
