203 FXUS65 KBOI 070914 AFDBOI Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Boise ID 214 AM MST Sun Nov 7 2021 .SHORT TERM...Today through Tuesday night...Weak cold front has moved east of our CWA, but light rain showers continue in Idaho south of the Snake River this morning. These will end by noon except in southern Twin Falls County where they may last until mid-afternoon. Clearing and colder tonight, with patchy fog in the valleys late tonight and Monday morning. The next Pacific storm, currently near the dateline, will race eastward across the Pacific today through Monday and reach our CWA late Monday night, but mainly impact our area Tuesday. This storm will be stronger, wetter, and windier than previous storms and will bring significant rain and mountain snow, mainly on the Idaho side Tuesday. Total precipitation late Monday through Tuesday night will be .50 to 1.00 inch in the Idaho mountains north of the Snake Basin, with .10 to .25 inch in the lower basins and valleys. Total snowfall will be 2 to 4 inches below 5000 feet but up to 10 inches in the Boise Mountains above 5000 feet. Southeasterly winds (except northeast near Jerome,ID) will increase as the storm approaches and will become gusty in all areas Monday night and Tuesday. For now, winds are expected to stay below advisory criteria, as will snow amounts in the mountains. High temps today and Monday will be generally in the 40s to lower 50s. Lows tonight will be cold, in the teens in the mountains and 20s to lower 30s in the valleys. Lows Monday night will be much warmer as clouds and winds increase. Highs Tuesday will also be a little warmer than Monday. .LONG TERM...Wednesday through Sunday...Moist northwesterly flow will continue the threat for showers across the higher terrain Wednesday. Upper level ridge will build along the west coast beginning Thursday and shift the storm track northward. This will keep the region mostly dry through the weekend with warmer temperatures. A temperature inversion could bring valley stratus and fog Saturday morning. && .AVIATION...Generally VFR. Isolated MVFR/IFR showers across Southwest Idaho this morning ending by 07/18z.
