561 FXUS65 KBOI 312015 AFDBOI Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Boise ID 214 PM MDT Sun Oct 31 2021 .SHORT TERM...Tonight through Tuesday night...Scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms this evening in eastern and northern zones in Idaho as the upper low that was in Oregon this morning becomes a weak trough that moves across Idaho. No precipitation tonight in Harney or Malheur Counties, but eastern mountains in Baker County will have isolated showers this evening. A well-defined Pacific frontal system near 132W will move onshore overnight and spread light rain into eastern Oregon Monday afternoon and western Idaho Monday night. Rain will end in Oregon by sunrise Tuesday and in Idaho later Tuesday. Total rainfall will be around .10 inch in southern valleys and up to .30 inch in the mountains and north. Snow level will be above 7000 feet in the north and above 8000 feet in the south so no impacts due to snow are expected. Skies will generally clear Tuesday night in the south but remain mostly cloudy in the north. Areas of fog will form in the valleys later Tuesday night and persist into Wednesday morning. .LONG TERM...Wednesday through Sunday...Models continue to be in good agreement through the extended period showing a progressive pattern continuing over the region. An upper ridge will start the period but will then slide eastward Thursday ahead of the next approaching trough. Rain, and high-elevation snow, will spread across the forecast area Thursday afternoon into the early hours Friday. Snow levels will be 7000-7500 feet. A drier southwest flow aloft will develop by Friday afternoon as the upper ridge rebuilds over the region. Temperatures are expected to remain near normal. && .AVIATION...Generally VFR conditions with the exception of pockets of MVFR/IFR and mountain obscuration due to low clouds across KBNO- KLMT this afternoon. Light rain along with isolated thunderstorms expected to spread into Idaho's West Central mountains through midnight tonight bringing periods of MVFR conditions and mountain obscuration.
