Similar to Thursday high temperatures will run 5-10 degrees above normal. The trough splits apart as it moves into the interior NW today. The northern piece of energy will push a cold front into southeast Oregon late this afternoon bringing a chance of showers to Baker county and the west-central Idaho mountains. Gusty winds will accompany the front through southeast Oregon, fading as they cross into southwest Idaho this evening. Snow levels will range 8-9kft with liquid totals of 0.10-0.20 inches across the e-central Oregon and w-central Idaho mountains through this evening. The southern energy will cut off along the OR coast, gradually drifting eastward through the weekend. After dry conditions Saturday, the chance for showers increases Saturday evening into Sunday as the low tracks into eastern Oregon. Precipitation amounts will be light and spotty in nature with higher probabilities across the mountains where snow levels will remain above 7500 feet. Precipitation chances will diminish Sunday night as the low fills. Temperatures are slightly above normal through Sunday. .LONG TERM...Monday through Friday...A progressive pattern is expected through the extended. Models are in agreement about a Pacific trough moving into the Pacific Northwest on Monday, bringing a chance of rain and high elevation snow to our area late Monday into Tuesday morning. This system will weaken as it undercuts an upper ridge centered over British Columbia, resulting in light precipitation amounts. The trough will move east on Tuesday with a shortwave ridge moving across our area through Wednesday. Some timing differences exist, but another trough will move into the Pacific Northwest late Wednesday into Thursday and weaken as it moves inland. Once again, precipitation amounts will be light, and snow will be limited to elevations above 7000 feet. The trough may linger overhead into Friday with a chance of precipitation continuing. Temperatures will cool a few degrees with each system, starting around 5 degrees above normal on Monday and ending near normal by Friday. && .AVIATION...Mainly VFR with mid/high clouds.
