915 FXUS65 KMSO 190859 AFDMSO Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Missoula MT 259 AM MDT Tue Oct 19 2021 .DISCUSSION...Any remaining light showers in Lemhi County this morning will likely be in the mountainous terrain from Gilmore Summit and south. The rest of the day will be similar to Monday, with high temperatures still above normal but slightly cooler than yesterday, and easterly winds will be slowly dissipating over western Montana. Wednesday a weak wave rides up the western flank of a weak high pressure ridge. Light showers will spread from north-central Idaho into northwest Montana overnight, additionally a few light showers are possible in the mountains around Missoula and the I-90 corridor as far east as Bearmouth. Temperatures remain mild for this time of year on Thursday as a strong low pressure system develops off the coast of British Colombia. Friday into the beginning of next week, multiple systems will move through a broad trough that develops over the intermountain west. The initial system Friday into Saturday, may take a favorable track to bring modest precipitation to the mountains of north- central Idaho and northwest montana. However, as the forecast stands today north-central Idaho, Lemhi County, and mountains along the Idaho/ Montana border will be the beneficiaries of multiple days of precipitation. These systems are not overly cool and snow levels generally stay 6000-7000 feet until Tuesday when they lower to around pass level. && .AVIATION...Any remaining showers this morning in lemhi County Idaho will be in higher terrain south of Gilmore Summit. The rest of the day easterly winds will continue for terminals in western Montana.
