479 FXUS63 KSGF 190433 AAA AFDSGF Area Forecast Discussion...UPDATED National Weather Service Springfield MO 1133 PM CDT Mon Oct 18 2021 .SHORT TERM...(This evening through Tuesday) Issued at 310 PM CDT Mon Oct 18 2021 Conditions are quiet in the short term. Typically cold river valleys over the east saw lows in the low 30s the last couple of days. Thinking some thin cloud cover and increased winds tonight will prevent temperatures from falling that low. Will see gusty winds up to 30 mph over the western portions of the area on Tuesday. Highs will be in the low to mid 70s. .LONG TERM...(Tuesday Night through Monday) Issued at 310 PM CDT Mon Oct 18 2021 A cold front will move through the area late Tuesday night into Wednesday. Forcing along the front will be counteracted by dry air to limit precip coverage/intensity/amounts. Expectation is for isolated light showers and perhaps some rumbles of thunder late Tuesday night through Wednesday, with the greatest coverage across northeastern portions of the area. Wednesday will see highs in the mid 70s, followed by cooler conditions behind the front. Highs in the mid 60s to around 70 are expected Thursday through Saturday. Overnight lows Wednesday night through Friday night will be in the 40s for the most part, but there is potential for colder temps and frost in the typical cold spots (especially over the eastern forecast area). Rain chances return this weekend into early next week (mainly Sunday and Monday) as an upper level system moves through the region. Questions remain on details. && .AVIATION...(For the 06Z TAFS through 06Z Tuesday night) Issued at 1132 PM CDT Mon Oct 18 2021 VFR conditions are expected at the TAF sites through the period with passing high clouds at times. Winds will increase out of the south on Tuesday with gusts over 20kts likely, especially at JLN. && .SGF WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... MO...NONE.
