726 FXUS66 KHNX 082204 AFDHNX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Hanford CA 304 PM PDT Fri Oct 8 2021 .SYNOPSIS...A Pacific storm system will bring much cooler temperatures and breezy conditions tonight and Saturday. Another weather system will bring another round of windy and cooler conditions Monday and Tuesday. A few showers will be possible over the sierra with dry, windy conditions in the San Joaquin Valley. && .DISCUSSION... The first storm of the season provided some widespread precipitation across parts of the central CA interior. Although amounts were light towards the west side of the SJ Valley and near zero towards the Kern county area. The heavier amounts occurred over the San Joaquin River basin with 5-9 tenths of an inch being reported in gauges. Satellite images show some accumulating snow in the sierra while snow was reported as low 6kft. One trough will exit east of the sierra this evening, while a second trough along the NCal coast pushes south toward the central Ca coast. This system will bring some gusty winds below the passes of the Kern County mountains through midnight, any precipitation remaining towards the coast. Cool fall like temperatures are on tap through the weekend. Models prog for another weather system to drop through the region early next week. This system will move as an inside slider resulting in lesser precipitation amounts over the Sierra zones Monday into early Tuesday. However models indicate very windy conditions on Monday into Tuesday. A few showers will be possible over the high sierra Monday. But the system will be mostly dry. Elevated fire weather conditions will possible Monday due to strong winds and low humidity especially towards the west side hills of the San Joaquin Valley. For the 2nd half of next week will see dry and warming conditions under weak ridging, but afternoon highs are still expected to remain below seasonal averages. && .AVIATION...Areas of MVFR conditions and local mountain obscuring IFR over the Tehachapi mountains through 12z Saturday.
