416 FXUS64 KOHX 081125 AFDOHX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Nashville TN 625 AM CDT Fri Oct 8 2021 .UPDATE... FOR 12Z AVIATION DISCUSSION. && .DISCUSSION... The clouds have cleared out, winds have gone calm and we've had lots of rain the last couple of days. Yep, you guessed it. Fog. And it looks like it's gonna be of the dense variety the rest of the night. It's not quite affecting ALL of Middle TN, but most and those where it's not quite as widespread yet, should see more by sunrise. For this reason, I'm going to go ahead and issue a Dense Fog Advisory for the whole area through 9 am CDT. For the *most* part, we're done with the rain, however, there is still some residual low-level moisture around (as we can tell with this morning's fog). Even though the upper trough we've been dealing with is pulling away from the area, I still think it could tap into the moisture and provide a few showers this afternoon. Don't think it'll be widespread, but we'll probably see some pavement wetters prior to sunset this evening. There's even a chance of some brief light rain Saturday morning in the far northwest. Not likely to be of much consequence, but worth mentioning anyway. The rest of Saturday and Sunday will be dry. This will be a welcomed sight, especially after all of the rain of the last few days. The down side, the dry conditions will be a result of an amplified upper ridge; one that is likely to raise temperatures well above normal -- maybe even 10 degrees above normal on Sunday and while we'll cool slightly next week, we should remain above normal until this time next week. A battle will ensue on Monday. The contestants? The weekend ridge versus a negatively tilted upper trough that swings into the mid- Mississippi Valley Monday afternoon. In any other scenario, that trough could spell nasty weather here, but I think the ridge will win most of the battle, or it looks like it at this point. Will keep some small PoPs in there for Monday afternoon, but most should remain dry. Medium range guidance suggests a warm front will pull through the region on Tuesday and set the stage for a late-week frontal arrival. The warm front could carry some showers with it either Tuesday or Wednesday, and while those are fuzzy details at this time, it does look like we can count on soaking rains returning by the end of next week. && .AVIATION... 12Z TAF DISCUSSION.
