Meccariello && PREV DISCUSSION... /Issued 350 AM CDT Wed Sep 22 2021/ SHORT TERM...Today through Thursday night. Surface high pressure will move off to the southeast of the Panhandles today. This will allow a new lee-side surface trough to develop. Southerly winds will pick up today in response to the lee-side trough. High temperatures today should be about 5 to 10 degrees warmer over yesterday, mainly across the central and western Panhandles, where the best downslope winds will be. Southerly winds and increasing heights aloft will help to warm the Panhandles up another 5 to 10 degrees on Thursday. 15 LONG TERM...Friday through Tuesday. Dry weather along with generally above normal temperatures will be the overall theme Friday through Tuesday as an upper level ridge of high pressure prevails across the region. A weak upper level low pressure system is expected to form near northern Baja, California Friday, then track slowly eastward through Tuesday. Medium range models differ on track, strength, and speed of this feature, but it appears at this time that any threat for precipitation may hold off until just beyond Tuesday. 02 && .AMA Watches/Warnings/Advisories...
