Winds do look to diminish a bit early this evening before increasing a bit later tonight with the cold front. TFJ Previous Discussion... Lee-side trough over central Montana overnight will move east across eastern Montana this morning and turn winds to the SW by afternoon. A cold front will be approaching the area from the west which will bring subsidence and warming that will boost temperatures well into 90s over most of the forecast area today. A few places will be near record highs today which is 96 for Glasgow and 95 for Glendive. Good mixing will allow southwest winds to reach Lake Wind Advisory levels this afternoon. Cold front moves through the area tonight which could bring a period of gusty NW winds. Temperatures will be much cooler behind the cold front on Sunday as an upper trough moves into the area. Models are now limiting most of the moisture to the southern part of the forecast area so the highest pops for rain will be in the southwest Sunday afternoon and southeast Sunday evening based on the timing of the system. The trough moves to the east on Monday and a wave in NW flow aloft could bring a chance of showers to the region. The upper trough will then be overhead Sunday allowing for a cooler and cloudy conditions with a surface low that may bring a brief but light steady rain for the SE portion of the CWA Sunday evening. Upper ridge moves in for Tuesday and Wednesday with warmer temperatures and dry weather. A cold front Wednesday Night with a shortwave trough will bring somewhat cooler temperatures on Thursday. && .AVIATION... UPDATED: 0800Z FLIGHT CONDITIONS: VFR today and tonight. WINDS: South to southeast winds will be 5 to 10 knots this morning. The wind will become southwest by early afternoon and increase to 15 to 25 knots with gusts to 30 knots. Winds will turn to the northwest tonight as a cold front moves through the area. DISCUSSION: Skies will be mostly clear this morning. Mid and high clouds will increase this afternoon and will become scattered tonight as a cold front moves through the area. && .FIRE WEATHER... ...A Red Flag Warning remains in effect for all of northeast Montana until 10 PM this evening...
