150 FXUS66 KOTX 062205 AFDOTX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Spokane WA 305 PM PDT Mon Sep 6 2021 .SYNOPSIS... Dry and warm weather will continue through at least Tuesday. Changes in the weather pattern are expected for Wednesday and beyond with the potential for breezy winds and isolated mountain showers. && .DISCUSSION... Through Wednesday Night: Other than some areas of smoke/haze, generally clear skies under high pressure are in place across the Inland Northwest today. Light westerly breezes have been common as well. While the concentration of smoke hasn't been too unpleasant for most locations today, a shift to southwesterly flow may draw up more wildfire smoke from the ongoing wildfires in Oregon and California late Tuesday into Wednesday. The high pressure looks to peak on Tuesday, with high temps commonly in the upper 80s to around 90, and higher in the LC Valley, though similar temps are expected Wednesday as well. A disturbance pushes across western and central WA Tuesday night into Wednesday, and may lead to a few showers with isolated thunderstorm potential along the Cascades. Breezy winds return Wednesday, elevating fire weather concerns once again. /KD Thursday through Sunday: The four corners high flattens and allows for a more zonal flow. Unfortunately, there are not any signs of decent precip for the outlook. There are a few disturbances that pass through lower BC but the moisture is not reaching South of the Canadian border. Winds will breezy on Thursday with afternoon gusts up to 20 MPH. The rest of the period should see fairly light winds. Highs for the period will be warmest on Thursday with temps in the 80s. They will dip into the 70s. Lows will be in the 40s and low 50s. /JDC && .AVIATION... 00Z TAFS: The main aviation concern into tomorrow will be smoke from area/regional wildfires. This could occasionally reduce visibilities to MVFR thresholds. A directional shift in wind Tuesday has the potential to allow a lot more smoke intrusion from the south into the aviation area, resulting in more widespread haze and visibility reduction. Otherwise, generally clear skies and light winds through the 24hr TAF period. /KD && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
