584 FXUS64 KLCH 062058 AFDLCH Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Lake Charles LA 358 PM CDT Mon Sep 6 2021 .DISCUSSION... .SHORT TERM [Today through 12Z Thursday]... A frontal boundary pushed through the area earlier today with shower and thunderstorm activity only remaining for a few coastal areas as well as offshore. This activity will continue to subside for coastal areas but storms will be expected overnight for offshore areas with support from the frontal boundary. The significant precipitation and cloud cover from earlier in the day has helped prevent redevelopment over much of the area. Partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies will be expected overnight for coastal and inland areas. With a significant amount of moisture present on the ground and the stalling frontal boundary to the south, isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms will be expected tomorrow (mainly during the afternoon and early evening hours). Daytime heating will likely facilitate a few pop-up showers and storms. This forecast aligns closely with NBM. However, PoPs were bumped up tomorrow afternoon to account for expectations of isolated storms. A similar pattern will be expected for Wednesday as well. Nighttime temperatures will be lower over the next few days due to the passage of the front bringing in cooler air from further north. Daytime temperatures will be near average or slightly above average but relative humidity values will be lower (especially for inland locations). 55 .LONG TERM [Thursday through Sunday]... One of the first true cool fronts of the season will push it's way down to the coast and into the coastal waters early Thursday morning. Precipitation will be on the wane during this time as the upper level trof will be just approaching the east coast. By Friday morning we are looking at temperatures in the upper 60s along the I- 10 corridor to the mid 60s in central louisiana and even the mid 70s for the beaches. Winds will remain from the north to northeast for Saturday but the cool dry pattern will continue with temperatures rising to near 90 with clear skies in the afternoon. Winds by Sunday will swing around to the southeast as the surface high moves off the US east coast. This will see the return of moisture across the region with the dew points rising and morning lows creeping up into the low 70s Monday morning while afternoon temperatures will hang around 90 to 93. This break from the heat does not mean that Indian Summer is gone but that we will get a great break and a time to enjoy the outside weather in a while. The rest of the coming week will see dew points rising back into the mid 70s by Tuesday. There is a disorganized area of showers and thunderstorms down by the Yucatan and this area will gradually be moving to the north with a zero chance for development over the next 48 hours. 19 && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
