Shower chances return Tuesday night and Wednesday with a crossing cold front. && .NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/... Patchy fog should quickly mix out and dissipate this morning. A shortwave trough is expected to cross the Lower Great Lakes/Upper Ohio Valley region this morning. Most of the shower supporting ascent and moisture is expected to stay north of the forecast area, though some scattered showers are possible this morning N of Interstate 80. Otherwise, sfc high pressure is progged to begin to build across the region later today, with dry weather expected. High temperatures should average near seasonable levels. && .SHORT TERM /6 PM THIS EVENING THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT/... Sfc high pressure is expected to move east across the region, maintaining dry weather through Tuesday. Some patchy river valley fog is possible tonight with warm water temperatures in place. A deepening upper trough is progged to track E from the Upper Midwest Tuesday night and Wednesday, as an associated sfc cold front approaches the area. Shower coverage should increase with this system's approach, and a few thunderstorms are possible Wednesday as the sfc cold front crosses the region. The showers should diminish Wednesday evening as the cold front completes its passage. && .LONG TERM /THURSDAY THROUGH SUNDAY/... The deepening upper trough axis should cross the Lower Great Lakes/Upper Ohio Valley region Thursday, with isolated showers possible. Areas N of I 80 should see more available moisture and ascent for scattered showers, and even a few thunderstorms with steepening lapse rates aloft. Generally dry weather is then expected through the weekend as sfc high pressure builds under northwest flow aloft.
