A quiet, light wind, mostly clear sky, high pressure night. No changes planned to the forecast. UPDATE Issued at 635 PM CDT Sun Sep 5 2021 See below for an aviation forecast discussion for the 00Z TAFs. && .SHORT TERM...(This Evening through Monday Night) Issued at 316 PM CDT Sun Sep 5 2021 The surface high pressure system that has been over the area today will begin to get pushed eastward tonight as a low pressure trough approaches from the west. Winds will be fairly light overnight, then will become more southwesterly on Monday ahead the low. The frontal boundary associated with this system looks to reach the western CWA sometime during the afternoon, and may see gusts in excess of 30 mph as it moves in. The southerly flow will also usher much warmer air into the region, and with drier air behind the front, will go ahead and upgrade the current Fire Weather Watch for Corson and Dewey counties to a Red Flag Warning. The front will continue to track eastward across the area Monday night, and should exit the CWA by sunrise Tuesday. There may be some precipitation development along the front overnight, but most models indicate this activity will stay north and east of the CWA, so will leave things dry for now. Low temperatures tonight will be in the 50s, with high temperatures on Monday ranging from the mid 80s across west central Minnesota and far northeastern South Dakota, to the mid 90s along and west of the Missouri River. Lows Monday night will again be in the 50s. .LONG TERM...(Tuesday through Sunday) Issued at 316 PM CDT Sun Sep 5 2021 Dry forecast, with near to just slightly above normal temps, remains in place. Main concern will be winds to start Tuesday, with mixed winds in BUFKIT topping out in the upper 20s and low 30s (kts) with a northwest component and early morning cold advection which will wane mid day onwards. Breezy conditions will continue into Wednesday though with much less intensity. No other hazards of note. && .AVIATION...(For the 06Z TAFS through 06Z Monday Night) Issued at 1225 AM CDT Mon Sep 6 2021 Terminals KABR,KATY,KPIR,KMBG VFR conditions will prevail across the area through the TAF valid period. && .ABR WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
