873 FXUS65 KGGW 230955 AFDGGW Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Glasgow MT 355 AM MDT Mon Aug 23 2021 .DISCUSSION... Warm and dry conditions are expected for NE Montana today with afternoon high temperatures reaching well into the 80s for many locations. By this evening, low pressure and a cold front will push through with scattered showers and thunderstorms, and a wind switch to the northwest. Tuesday will feature cooler and drier weather conditions, but gusty winds will be possible. It looks marginal for Lake Wind criteria at the moment, but given the post-frontal environment, would not be surprised to see future forecast wind speeds trended upward. Upper ridging will hang on to the CWA for a time Wednesday before a western trough lifts across the area late in the week, when many ensembles point to unsettled weather conditions returning to the area. && .AVIATION... Temporary MVFR is possible due to low stratus and patchy fog through 15Z. Otherwise, expect VFR conditions today. Widely scattered showers and thunderstorms are also possible this evening with a cold front. Winds will be southeast this morning at 5 to 10 kts, gradually turning to the northwest this evening. && .GLASGOW WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...NONE. && $$ weather.gov/glasgow
