837 FXUS64 KSJT 211804 AFDSJT Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service San Angelo TX 104 PM CDT Sat Aug 21 2021 ...New LONG TERM... .SHORT TERM... (Today and tonight) Issued at 315 AM CDT Sat Aug 21 2021 Summer returning to West Central Texas, as upper level high pressure builds over the top of the area. Given the recent rainfall, surface dewpoints will remain relatively high. But convection should remain farther west, and temperatures will continue to slowly climb. Mostly mid 90s expected today, perhaps pushing into the upper 90s across the eastern Big Country closer to the middle of the ridge. Muggy again tonight with lows in the 70s. && .LONG TERM... (Sunday night through next Saturday) Issued at 104 PM CDT Sat Aug 21 2021 The core of a large upper level ridge east of our region will gradually drift north into Oklahoma through Wednesday, with drier air moving into the region and dry weather likely. Meanwhile, warm south to southeast surface and low-level flow and a persistent warm 850 mb thermal ridge will bring highs around normal for this time of year through Wednesday (low to mid 90s). The 850 mb thermal ridge weakens slightly Thursday through Saturday, resulting in slight cooling down to mainly the low 90s. There's a chance that a short-wave and associated higher moisture could move in from the southeast sometime late in the week, which would bring some showers/storms, but chances at this point are too low to include in the forecast. && .AVIATION... (18Z TAFS) Issued at 1219 PM CDT Sat Aug 21 2021 Expect VFR for the next 24 hours. The winds will be form the south and gusty at times this afternoon. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
