.SHORT TERM (Today through Sunday)...
The Subtropical Ridge remains dominant over South Central Texas this 
weekend with a mostly subsident airmass. Hurricane Grace has made 
landfall south of Tuxpan Mexico and will continue to move west and 
send a brief surge of slightly deeper moisture into parts of our 
area today into evening. Forcing by heating and the seabreeze may 
generate isolated showers and thunderstorms near the Coastal Plains 
early this afternoon and along the southern Rio Grande areas late 
this afternoon into early this evening. However, cannot rule out an 
isolated shower or two elsewhere. Moisture levels decrease by Sunday 
with no rain expected. Near to slightly above normal temperatures 
continue. Elevated afternoon heat index values of 105 to 107 are 
possible along and southeast of the Escarpment.

.LONG TERM (Sunday Night through Friday)...
The subtropical ridge will continue to suppress convection during the
first part of next week. Dry weather will continue Sunday night
through early Wednesday. Near to slightly above normal temperatures
will also continue. Humidity will be sufficient to push heat indices
to 105 and higher across the area along and east of I-35 each
afternoon Monday through Wednesday. A surge of gulf moisture will
push into our southeastern area Wednesday afternoon bringing chances
for showers and thunderstorms. This moisture will move farther inland
over the second half of the week bringing low chances for rain
Thursday and Friday afternoons as far inland as I-35. PW values will
be 2 inches and higher in this airmass. That will make locally heavy
rain possible. Although, this will be a low POP forecast and most 
places will stay dry.
