.SHORT TERM...(Today and tonight)

A quiet and hot weather pattern continues for southwest Kansas and
the central plains as a large area of high pressure centered over
northern Kansas will keep the jet stream well to the north in the
northern plains. At the surface winds should stay fairly light out
of the south at 5-15 mph and skies will be mostly sunny. Highs
today should reach to around 100.

Tonight light winds will continue with mainly clear skies and with
the warm air mass in place temperatures will fall into the lower
70s.

.LONG TERM...(Thursday night through Wednesday)
Issued at 314 PM CDT Wed Jul 28 2021

Dry conditions continue through Saturday as an upper level high
sits above the Plains with high pressure to the east and lee
troughing to the west at the surface. This will lead to general
southerly winds. Models then suggest the upper level high to slide
west over the Rockies with an upper level trough over the eastern
United States. This will increase precipitation chances Saturday
night into the early part of next week as a series of disturbances
move through the area. However, rain chances look low at this
time. As for temperatures, highs will be in the upper 90s to
around 100 degrees through Saturday, cooling down into the 80s to
low 90s as we head into the first part of next week. Lows look to
dip into the 60s to low 70s throughout the long term forecast.
