The National Weather Service in El Paso Tx/Santa Teresa has issued a

* Flood Advisory for...
  West Central Otero County in south central New Mexico...

* Until 730 PM MDT.

* At 432 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to 
  thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin 
  shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.75 and 1.5 inches of rain 
  have fallen or will fall shortly .

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Alamogordo, White Sands National Monument, Burro Flats, High 
  Rolls, Holloman Air Force Base, La Luz, Mountain Park, Boles Acres 
  and Karr Canyon.

Additional rainfall of 0.5 to 1.5 inches is expected over the area. 
This additional rain will result in minor flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are 
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded 
roads. Find an alternate route.
