053 FNUS51 KBTV 100741 FWFBTV Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central/Northern Vermont and Northern New York National Weather Service Burlington VT 341 AM EDT Thu Jun 10 2021 ...Another Day Of Low Relative Humidity... .DISCUSSION... Many locations yesterday, especially across northern New York and northern and central Vermont, saw afternoon minimum relative humidity values lower into the 20 percent range. Early this morning we are seeing a southward push of lower dew points from Quebec and this will continue through the day. Despite temperatures being about 10 degrees cooler than yesterday this drier air will allow for afternoon minimum relative humidity values to lower back into the 20 percent range, but this time over the entire area. This is happening in response to high pressure building down from Canada, which will settle over our area tonight. So no precipitation is expected for today and tonight with mainly some high level clouds. Winds for the most part will be from the north and northeast today and tonight, but speeds generally 10 mph or less. An upper level disturbance will move down from Canada late Friday afternoon and evening and will bring just a chance of showers to the area, especially over our southern areas. Rainfall amounts however will be less than a tenth of an inch. High pressure quickly builds back into the region on Saturday for dry weather, a good deal of sunshine, and afternoon relative humidity values likely in the 25 to 35 percent range. A pattern change looks to take place Sunday through Tuesday as an upper level low pressure system organizes over eastern Canada and the Northeast. This feature moves little during this time period and will bring higher humidities and periods of showers. At this time it looks like much of the area could see a quarter to half inch of rain for the three day period. Not a significant amount to alleviate the drought conditions, but will help in limiting fire weather concerns early next week.
