049 FXUS62 KFFC 060750 AFDFFC Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Peachtree City GA 350 AM EDT Sun Jun 6 2021 .SHORT TERM /Today through Monday/... The deep upper closed low and trough will expand to the east through the short term. Models hint at a couple of short waves moving through the southerly flow across our area. Instability looks weak to moderate today but better for Monday. PW values remain near 2.00 inches. In general...conditions remain in place to keep likely pops across the area today and again Monday...diminishing overnight with loss of heating. Isolated storms could get strong to severe this afternoon and again Monday...but not expecting any organized severe storms. Layers of mid/high clouds and east to southeast winds should help keep max temperatures in the low 80s far north to low 90s east central both days. 41 .LONG TERM /Monday Night through Saturday/... Extended forecast period begins with the forecast area in the transition zone between weak upper ridging along the southeastern coast and a closed upper low over the southern plains. This pattern slowly modifies as the upper low drifts northeast into the mid-south region and weakens and the upper ridge slowly breaks down. By the latter half of the upcoming workweek the upper low has opened up into a weak upper trough over the region. At the surface, the region remains under the weak western nose of the western Atlantic ridge which will keep ample moisture feeding into the area. This should keep the diurnally oriented trend of scattered to widespread convection in place through the period. Will need to keep an eye on the model trends heading into next weekend as both the GFS and ECMWF showing a northwest upper flow pattern developing which could enhance our chances for more organized, strong to severe thunderstorms. 20 && .AVIATION... 06Z Update...
