424 FXUS63 KOAX 010922 AFDOAX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Omaha/Valley NE 422 AM CDT Sat May 1 2021 .DISCUSSION... Issued at 414 AM CDT Sat May 1 2021 Today and tonight: Weak northwesterly flow aloft continues overhead as weak upper level ridging moves eastward into the Central Plains. Increasing southerly low-level flow will mix out very well today creating hot and breezy conditions with gusts up to 35-40mph at times. Highs should max out in the upper 80s to low 90s. High Fire danger is expected across a large portion of the CWA this afternoon with minimum relative humidity values around 20-25 percent. We will continue to mention heightened fire weather concerns but winds/humidity/fuels look to remain below Red Flag Warning criteria. Much of Sunday should be dry with highs generally in the upper 70s to low 80s. A cold front is expected to push through the area during the evening as a weak mid-level shortwave slides northeast across the area. This should provide the area with likely chances for showers and a few thunderstorms. This activity is expected to continue to push southeast with the front into Monday morning giving most of the region a shot at 0.25-0.75" of QPF. Much cooler temperatures and gusty northerly winds are expected behind the front on Monday as cool Canadian high pressure moves into the region into Tuesday. Temperatures through the remainder of next week should mainly range in the 60s as northwesterly flow aloft keeps cooler temperatures over the area. To the west, upper ridging will continue build which is forecast to move into the Central Plains over Mother's Day weekend. && .AVIATION...(For the 06Z TAFS through 06Z Saturday night) Issued at 1158PM CDT Fri Apr 30 2021 VFR conditions continue through this TAF period with LLWS of about 50kts the primary concern at FL010 through about 14Z Saturday. && .OAX WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
