A few light rain showers or sprinkles are possible in central and northcentral Wisconsin in the afternoon and evening, with some virga further east where the air is drier. Highs today will be close to normal. Some light rain may arrive in northcentral Wisconsin late tonight along a cold front and somewhat stronger upper trough. CLouds and a breeze will keep temperatures a few degrees above normal. The cold front will move slowly across the region Saturday, accompanied by light rain showers. Cold advection behind the front will make for much cooler temperatures across northcentral Wisconsin, with temperatures moderately cooler across the remainder of the area. A few snow showers are possible across the far north as the precipitation ends in the afternoon. .LONG TERM...Saturday Night Through Thursday Issued at 337 AM CDT Fri Apr 23 2021 Unsettled weather is expected next week. A west-east upper level flow will control the weather pattern at the beginning of the week. Surface-based low pressure along the front range of the Rocky Mountains will expand east and generate a chance of light snow showers early Monday morning, mainly for areas north of Highway 29. There will be at least a slight chance for rain showers across the region thereafter until Tuesday evening when precipitation chances increase significantly as upper-level low pressure troughing deepens over the western U.S. The surface- based low pressure system over the Midwest will have tapped Gulf of Mexico moisture by this time and scattered thunderstorm activity is expected by Tuesday evening. && .AVIATION...for 06Z TAF Issuance Issued at 1039 PM CDT Thu Apr 22 2021 Clear skies will remain in place across the region for the early overnight hours. A brief window for LLWS some wind shear is possible overnight as the atmosphere decouples, with values around 30 to 35 knots off the surface, but this will dissipate again as we get into the mid-morning hours.
