.SYNOPSIS...Look for very cold temperatures and wind chills through 
Thursday morning. Warmer temperatures and lighter winds arrive for 
northern Arizona on Thursday. Mostly cloudy skies and a few flurries 
or light rain showers are on tap for Christmas Day. Expect 
increasing winds and dry weather over the weekend.

.DISCUSSION...Extremely dry and cold air, along with surface north 
through east winds, will affect nearly all locations tonight. Winds 
have started to decrease this evening, but will still remain gusty 
for several more hours in favored locations. Favored locations will 
be along and just southwest of higher terrain, these areas may see 
winds chills dropping below zero at times.

A s/wv ridge brings some warming and less wind for Thursday, after a 
very cold morning. A weak low moves through Christmas Day, this low 
may have enough moisture for a few flurries or light sprinkles.

Stay tuned for details concerning our potential winter storm early 
next week. No short term updates needed this evening.

.AVIATION...For the 06Z package...VFR conditions will persist over 
the next 24 hours. Til 10Z, areas along and south of the Mogollon 
Rim and Yavapai County mountains with surface winds N-NE 10-20kts 
gusts to 35kts, wind decreasing after 10Z. Elsewhere/otherwise, sfc 
winds N-E 5-15kts. Aviation discussion not updated for TAF 
amendments.

.FIRE WEATHER...North to northeast winds will last into tonight. 
Look for lighter easterly winds on Thursday with a warming trend. A 
weak area of low pressure will move across Arizona on Christmas Day 
with increasing clouds and slight chances for showers. 

Saturday through Monday...A Low pressure passing north of the state 
could bring southwest to west winds on Saturday and Sunday. A strong 
low pressure system will then begin to move across Arizona on 
Monday with increasing southwest winds, cloud cover, and chances 
for rain and snow.
