Rain is slowly shifting to the East, the heavier rain is mostly confined to Northeast Mississippi and near the Tennessee River in West Tennessee. Light rain and drizzle will likely linter for most of the night. The big question overnight is how much fog will develop. The best chance of widespread for will likely be over East Arkansas where more clearing is expected. However, light winds should help keep the airmass mixed and limit fog formation. Overnight lows should be in the middle 30s to low 40s. 30 && .PREV DISCUSSION... /issued 546 PM CST Sat Dec 19 2020/ Rain ongoing across most of the Mid-South due to an approaching cold front. With the passage of the front rain should end overnight. With that being said patchy fog could develop in the early morning hours. A ridge builds in for the beginning of the work week. Temperatures will moderate to the mid 50's on Tuesday. In the meantime a trof is building over the northern Rockies. This trof moves into the area for the latter half of Wednesday. There is still disagreement on medium range models on timing and strength. This could bring some wintry precipitation for north of the TN/MS border. as this system starts to move out of the area wrap around precipitation in the form of flurries. The main point is that with this system it will be cold Thursday through Saturday morning. Longer term we look to dry out with around normal temperatures to finish the holiday weekend. && .AVIATION...00Z TAFs Flying conditions are expected to remain rough through the morning hours as a cold front exits the region. Rain will persist through the evening with LIFR ceilings developing overnight. Fog is also forecast to develop through the morning hours.
