330 FXUS63 KICT 252027 AFDICT Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Wichita KS 227 PM CST Wed Nov 25 2020 .SHORT TERM...(This evening through Saturday night) Issued at 221 PM CST Wed Nov 25 2020 Comparison of short range models to satellite trends for cloud cover shows models are clearing the low clouds out too quickly. Therefore as we approach sunset the back edge erosion of low clouds should decrease and possibly halt overnight. Fog development is a possibility given the combination of recent rainfall, light winds, and radiational cooling west of the low clouds mainly for locations along and east of the Kansas turnpike. Some locations could experience dense fog development. Any residual fog should lift by late tomorrow morning with a cold front pushing south, and above normal temperatures south of the front for Thanksgiving Day. Dry weather with near normal temperatures will prevail for Friday and Saturday. Meanwhile a upper level system will move eastward across Oklahoma on Saturday night, which could bring a light rain/snow mix to southern Kansas. .LONG TERM...(Sunday through Wednesday) Issued at 221 PM CST Wed Nov 25 2020 Model trends have shifted position of upper level low pressure a bit further south which keeps better precipitation chances confined to southern Kansas/Oklahoma for Sunday morning. High confidence for dry weather to prevail Monday-Wednesday in the wake of the low pressure system, as low level moisture is shoved well south into the Gulf of Mexico area. Daytime highs will be near normal for early December. && .AVIATION...(For the 18Z TAFS through 18Z Thursday afternoon) Issued at 1133 AM CST Wed Nov 25 2020 Main aviation concerns will be low clouds and fog potential over southeast KS. Upper low is tracking across the Mid Mississippi Valley with northwest flow aloft moving into the Plains. Low clouds are currently in place across southeast KS with KCNU expected to stay in them through around 00z. Meanwhile the remainder of the area will see clear skies. Not out of the question some fog or low clouds move back into KCNU late tonight as surface winds come back around to the south. Feel that wet grounds may also help with some shallow fog development over southeast KS early Thu morning. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
