079 FXUS63 KUNR 231952 AFDUNR Area Forecast Discussion For Western SD and Northeastern WY National Weather Service Rapid City SD 1252 PM MST Mon Nov 23 2020 .DISCUSSION...(This Evening Through Monday) Issued at 1252 PM MST Mon Nov 23 2020 Progressive westerly flow will continue to become more active as passing upper troughs trend more amplified. However, lack of sig moisture combined with split flow tendencies will preclude precip chances most areas. Splitting long wave upper trough continues to advect east into the region. Gusty southerly winds continue over scentral SD today and will persist into the evening. Main area of lift and deeper moisture has trended SE, offering a dry forecast now for all areas in the FA, save for perhaps far SE Tripp county where some light snow or flurries will be possible late tonight into Tue morning. Sfc cold front will shift through the area tonight supporting breezy spots over NW SD late tonight into Tues. CAA will offer slightly cooler conds most areas, but better mixing will allow temps similar to today’s numbers over NW SD. The next progressive trough will shift into the region Tues with ridging ensuing and lasting int Wed. This will support slightly warmer conds by Wed, after which another cold front will bring cooler conds for Thanksgiving Day. Another repeat ridge/trough will support warming conds Friday and Sat, with a stronger cold front Sunday. Dry weather will prevail in the period with currently no chances for precip into early next week. However, a few snow showers could be possible with any passing upper troughs later in the week esp. if timed with diurnal heating, just not high enough of a probability to mention attm. && .AVIATION...(For the 18Z TAFS Through 18Z Tuesday) Issued At 1015 AM MST Mon Nov 23 2020 VFR conditions will continue through the period. && .UNR WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
