290 FXUS63 KILX 192055 AFDILX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Lincoln IL 255 PM CST Thu Nov 19 2020 .SYNOPSIS... Issued at 255 PM CST Thu Nov 19 2020 Windy conditions will continue tonight with gusts of 25-35 mph possible through early this evening. The strong southerly winds will also keep temperatures mild overnight, only falling into the middle to upper 40s. A cold front should move southeast through the area tomorrow with increase clouds and a chance of light rain by Friday night mainly along and south of I-72. The front will stall near the Ohio river this weekend giving much of IL a rainy and cooler weekend. && .SHORT TERM...(This evening through Friday night) ISSUED AT 255 PM CST Thu Nov 19 2020 Under mostly clear skies, windy conditions will continue this evening. The wind advisory will expire at 6 pm this evening, and that continues to be a good forecast as wind speeds should decrease after sunset. However, gusty winds of 25 to 35 mph may continue for several hours this evening, before the gusts diminish around midnight. The southerly winds should also keep temps mild, with overnight lows only reaching the middle to upper 40s. As a cold front moves into the area tomorrow, clouds will be on the increase across most of the area, with a slight chance of precip entering the south and southwestern part of the CWA during the afternoon hours. The real chance of precip will begin Friday night as better convergence and dynamics move into the southern part of the CWA. Models have trended south with the higher pops/qpf and should be mostly south of a Rushville to Danville line. Temps tomorrow will remain warm, though not as warm as today, given the clouds and precip. Expecting highs ranging from the middle 50s in the north to the middle 60s in southeast IL, south of the front. As the front pushes little further south tomorrow night, lows Fri night will be cooler, with lows ranging from the middle 30s in the north to the upper 40s in the southeast. && .LONG TERM...(Saturday through Thursday) ISSUED AT 255 PM CST Thu Nov 19 2020 The chance of precip will continue through the weekend with the highest pops...likely...mainly Sat night. Sat night will also be when the highest QPF, around one half inch is expected. Likely pops will continue on Sunday in the southeast, but as the front moves quickly southeast, the precip will come to an end late Sunday afternoon. Dry weather is then expected Sun night through Monday evening. However, another weather system will move through the CWA mid week with showers beginning late Monday as a warm front moves across the area...and then continuing through Wed as the main cold front and sfc low pressure area move through. All models are forecasting this system to become more of a closed off low pressure area, which means it will move slower through the area, prolonging the rain chance period. Based on the track of the low pressure area, some of the precip during the overnight hours could be a mix of rain and snow. Through the extended period, temps will be more seasonable or a little below normal on Monday. However, temps begin to warm Wed and continue into Thanksgiving day; which also looks to be a dry day. && .AVIATION...(For the 18Z TAFS through 18Z Friday afternoon) Issued at 1150 AM CST Thu Nov 19 2020 VFR conditions will prevail at all sites rest of the afternoon and into this evening as high cirrus will be all the clouds TAF sites see. Winds will remain gusty today and then decrease some this evening, still out of the south-southwest. Gusts will diminish late tonight at all sites with none expected tomorrow.
