811 FXUS65 KBYZ 150440 CCA AFDBYZ Area Forecast Discussion...CORRECTED National Weather Service Billings MT 940 PM MST Sat Nov 14 2020 .UPDATE... Forecast in good shape. Update for aviation discussion. Chambers && .DISCUSSION... Tonight through Sunday Night... Powerful west/northwest winds will rock the CWA through the afternoon before decreasing this evening as mid level winds decrease and we have some decoupling from the boundary layer. However, periods of strong winds will continue through Sunday night in the foothills. Upper trof axis moving over the region with an unstable northwest flow is producing some light rain/snow showers across the eastern plains. These should not result in much if any accumulations and end by evening. There is another slug of Pacific moisture riding some impulses into our region from the southwest tonight. This should produce a few inches of snow over the high country in the Beartooth/Absaroka ranges, but little if anything more than a flurry at the lower elevations. Some orographical snow may linger in the high country Sunday, otherwise look for another windy day in and near the foothills, which will extend into Sunday night, decreasing late. Seasonal temperatures are expected Sunday in the 40s. BT Monday through Saturday... Ridging building over the region will bring mainly dry conditions and less wind to the area for the first part of next week. Some showers are possible over the west on Monday associated with a weak disturbance, with dry conditions elsewhere. Ridge axis slides east over the area on Tuesday, before the ridge breaks down on Wednesday as multiple weak shortwaves move through the region through Saturday. The shortwaves will bring periodic light precipitation chances. Highs will range from the 40s on Monday, to the 50s to lower 60s on Tuesday and Wednesday. Temperatures gradually cool back to the 30s/40s by the end of the week as heights lower and flow turns more out of the northwest. Low temperatures in the 20s are forecast most nights through next week. STP && .AVIATION... VFR will prevail at lower elevations. Mountains will be frequently obscured in snow showers through Sunday morning. Chambers && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMP/POPS...
