620 FXUS65 KFGZ 142109 AFDFGZ Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Flagstaff AZ 209 PM MST Sat Nov 14 2020 .SYNOPSIS...High pressure will begin to build over Arizona on Sunday for dry conditions and a warming trend through the middle of next week. Daytime high temperatures will reach 10-15 degrees above average by Tuesday. && .DISCUSSION...The trough of low pressure that brought strong winds this morning to parts of northern Arizona is now moving across Colorado and New Mexico and into the Great Plains. Arizona will remain under a northwest flow with locally breezy conditions through this evening. High pressure will build over Arizona Sunday through Tuesday with a daytime warming trend. Nights will remain seasonally cool. High temperatures will reach 10 to 15 degrees above average for this time of year through Wednesday. A trough of low pressure moving onto the West Coast will bring increasing southwest winds to northern Arizona on Wednesday as it brushes our state. Clouds will also increase on Wednesday. Further cooling is expected on Thursday. On Friday, another trough will bring increasing winds, clouds, cooler daytime temperatures, and a chance for showers. Currently, the GFS model is showing a better chance of showers than the EC. For now, just slight chances for precipitation are indicated. && .AVIATION...For the 00Z package...VFR conditions will continue over the next 24 hours. Breezy northwest winds will diminish early this evening with generally light winds for the remainder of the TAF period.
